Living in Chicago can be energizing, full of opportunity—and overwhelming. Between career pressure, sensory overload, social burnout, or simply wondering Why do I feel this way?, many people arrive at the same conclusion: it's time to understand what's going on underneath the surface.
At IDPsych, we believe therapy begins with clarity. That’s why we offer comprehensive psychological assessments that go beyond symptom checklists. Whether you're considering therapy for the first time, looking for a diagnosis, or seeking a deeper understanding of yourself, we're here to help.
Why Start with Assessment?
Most people don’t need guesswork. They need answers.
Psychological assessment is a powerful tool to identify conditions like ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, anxiety, and learning disabilities. It’s also incredibly helpful for those who don’t fit neatly into a single category—but know something feels “off.”
An accurate, well-interpreted assessment can:
Explain why you're struggling to focus, follow through, or stay organized
Clarify the root of your anxiety, mood swings, or sensory sensitivities
Help you get academic or workplace accommodations
Save you years of frustration and ineffective treatments
Validate what you've felt for a long time—but couldn't name
Who We Work With
We serve adults, teens (13+), and college students throughout Chicago. Many of our clients come to us feeling stuck, misdiagnosed, or dismissed elsewhere. Others are high-functioning professionals who keep it all together on the outside—but feel overwhelmed inside.
We also frequently work with:
College students navigating academic stress or burnout
Young adults transitioning into independent life
Adults seeking answers about ADHD or autism for the first time
Individuals whose past therapy never quite “clicked”
People who have been misdiagnosed or misunderstood in the past
What We Offer at IDPsych
ADHD Evaluations
If you’ve ever asked yourself:
“Why can’t I focus no matter how hard I try?”
“Why do I miss deadlines even though I care deeply?”
“Why does my brain never shut off?”
We conduct comprehensive ADHD evaluations that assess executive functioning, attention patterns, memory, and more. Our process separates ADHD from anxiety, depression, and burnout—which can look similar on the surface, but require different treatment paths.
Autism Spectrum Assessments (Adults + Teens)
Autism isn’t always obvious—especially in adults who’ve learned to mask their behaviors. If you've always felt different but never knew why, our assessment process can help you explore whether autism may be part of your neurodivergent identity.
We assess for both social-emotional and sensory aspects of autism, and we provide results with empathy, clarity, and zero judgment.
Learning Disabilities and Academic Testing
Struggling in school doesn’t always mean you’re not trying. In fact, many smart, hardworking students are living with undiagnosed learning disabilities.
We offer assessments for:
Dyslexia and reading disorders
Math and written expression challenges
Processing speed and working memory issues
Test anxiety and performance blocks
Our evaluations are often used for IEP/504 plans, college accommodations, or simply gaining confidence in your learning style.
Anxiety, Depression & Diagnostic Clarification
Sometimes, therapy alone isn’t enough. You may need a clearer diagnostic picture.
We help clients who:
Are stuck in cycles of worry or overthinking
Can’t tell if it’s burnout, anxiety, or something deeper
Don’t feel like their current therapist "gets it"
Are trying medication and want to better understand what’s working
Our goal is to empower—not label. We explain your results in plain language, and if treatment is needed, we guide you toward next steps that fit your life.
Our Approach: Thoughtful, Efficient, and Human
We know that seeking a psychological assessment can feel intimidating. That’s why we’ve created a process that’s transparent, personalized, and always respectful of your time.
Here’s how it works:
Free 20-Minute Consult - Let’s talk about what you’re hoping to find out. We’ll answer your questions and make sure assessment is the right step for you.
In-Depth Clinical Interview - We take time to understand your story—not just your symptoms.
Testing Day(s) - You’ll complete standardized tests, questionnaires, and cognitive tasks. Many can be done remotely, with flexibility for your schedule.
Feedback Session - We’ll meet to go over the results in detail. You’ll receive a written report with clear findings, helpful recommendations, and referrals (if needed).
Ongoing Support - Whether you pursue therapy with us or another provider, we stay available for follow-up questions, school/employer coordination, and treatment planning.
Why We Do This Work
At IDPsych, we don’t believe in one-size-fits-all therapy. We believe in context, depth, and collaboration. Our assessments are grounded in current research—but delivered with warmth, curiosity, and care.
Getting assessed can be a turning point. It can name what you’ve been feeling, organize the chaos, and point to a real path forward. It can validate years of struggle, or open up new possibilities.
We’re here for those conversations—the ones that bring understanding and relief.
